A small diagram showing the stratigraphic relationships of different rock units within the field site. The top unit is the Loch Raven Schist. Under the Loch Raven Schist is the Cockeysville Marble. Underneath the Cockeysville Marble is the Setters Formation. Under the Setters Formation is the Baltimore Gneiss.
A hand reaches out to touch a light colored rock. It is homogeneous with an irregular crack on the left side. Grains are too small to be seen..
A close up of the rock with a finger pointing to small, sand-sized grains in the rock. These grains appear clear with some tan-colored discoloration from weathering. Lichen covers part of the rock.
Fingers are pointing to a weathered rock face where a small part has been hammered showing the unweathered rock underneath. This exposure of unweathered rock is slightly larger than a quarter and exposes clear grains. The weathering on the exterior of the rock is dark and light gray with green moss.
A finger points to a small exposure of unweathered rock that is within the dark gray weathered face of the rock. The grains are very white in this image. Small bits of moss and lichen can be seen. The exposed rock is roughly nickel-sized.
